March Bracelet or Martaki is a popular Greek custom.
On March 1st we wear a small bracelet called Martaki, of red and white thread. It is a custom that the ancient Greeks had!! We wear it for good luck and to protect us from the intense sun. The white symbolizes purity and the red symbolizes life, passion. At the end of the month, we put it on a tree, usually a rose tree, so that the birds can take it and make with it their nests!!
