Christmas is “the most wonderful time of the year” and we celebrated Christmas in our school this year by making Christmas ornaments, participating in the ANT1’s Satellite Drawing Contest and Christmas show and having our own Christmas celebration in the Social Hall.
We began our Christmas preparations early this year because we entered the ANT1 Satellite drawing competition and began rehearsing our Christmas songs after learning that the well-known television channel would be visiting our school on December 7th to record our students singing Greek Christmas Carols!
At the same time, our students studied the Greek Christmas traditions and customs. They learned about the Vasilopita bread that we cut on New Year’s Day, the pomegranate that we break on New Year’s Eve, the Christmas boats that people decorate in different parts of Greece, the melomakarona and the kourabiedes that fill our houses and they also listened to Greek Christmas songs and stories.
During our last day of Greek School (Tuesday, December 21st) we made Christmas Ornaments in our classes and celebrated in the Social Hall singing Christmas songs. Our wonderful PTA distributed small presents to our students and we exchanged wishes for Christmas and the upcoming New Year.
The teachers and I would like to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas Holiday and a 2022 full of health, faith, love, happiness and good luck.
