Our Greek school students commemorated the three hierarchs, the fathers of Greek letters, in the church today. Basil the Great, John Chrysostom, and Gregory the Theologian are the Three Hierarchs. Their big heart and Christian soul housed the needy. Nothing was theirs. They donated everything to others. They were the fathers of the church and protectors of Greek education and literacy. They reconciled the Ancient Greek Spirit with Christianity by studying classical literature. As great teachers and fathers of the Church, the University of Athens, Greece, celebrated the three Hierarchs as a day of education in 1842. Our church honors them annually on January 30th.
Today, our Greek School students honored their memory! Enjoy some photos from this event at the church.
